| Better living through biochemistry

In fact, Ellenville Regional Hospital in Ellenville has launched clinical trials to study the potential health benefits advocated in "The BioChemical Machine: Empowering Your Body Chemistry," written by Eleonora De Lennart, a town of Rochester resident. Her book is in its third printing and highly ranked at Barnes & Noble. "The Biochemical Machine" proposes that compatibility between food chemistry and body chemistry is key to maintaining healthy weight, overcoming illness and bolstering good health. In addition to the text, a pullout chart and more than 100 pages of recipes assist readers who wish to follow De Lennart's method. The author will sign her book May 17 at Barnes & Noble in Newburgh and on June 1 at 7 p.m. at the chain's town of Ulster store. Currently De Lennart is working on "The Race That Should Be Human: The Cause of Violence, Hate and Racism," expected out in the fall. List price for "The BioChemical Machine" is $19.95. The following interview was conducted by e-mail. Q: What inspired you to write "The Biochemical Machine"? A: To be honest, because I was very angry! I have seen so many people suffering, developing chronic diseases, struggling (unnecessarily) with one of the most beautiful things in our lives - with food - or rather depriving themselves from eating. And I witnessed (and suffered) due to the origin of a whole industry and its foot soldiers, the diet/MD- gurus (who betrayed their highly respected profession AND their oath) and their ghostwriters, of course, capitalizing on this suffering, turning our BioChemical Machine into a moneymaking machine making billions of dollars and causing even more financial problems for this country and its wonderful people. Yet, it was never and never will be about food. It is and always will be about our cells! I knew that I had to do something about this huge problem, because I also knew I had the answer. It is my own experience that led to my crusade, a crusade for the people who have the right to get out of the very vicious cycle of losing/gaining/losing weight - not knowing that all these diets help them only to lose water and muscles, which is as senseless as it can be -and losing health just to end up with the yo-yo effect, which weakens the immune system. Twenty years ago, I struggled with a variety of health problems - liver, pancreas, and kidney diseases to diabetes, tumors, heart problems, serious weight problems and pathological fatigue, the first sign that something is wrong with our body chemistry. I tried every diet and ended up with the high-protein diet, now smartly re-named low-carb diet, which destroyed my health. Not only did I experience the illnesses I mentioned, but finally, I hit a low point in my life. I was experiencing pain in every fiber of my body and was so weak that I could hardly walk. This was the moment that I encountered very important basic research, which many years later I would further develop and which would lead to my ground-breaking discovery that two different types of digestion exist for protein - as well as to the solution: The perfect match of food chemistry and body chemistry. Q: Would you explain, in brief, the A&B BioChemical Method® A: We humans are a BioChemical Machine with clear-cut rules in regard to our body chemistry, which is the same for all 6 billion people around the world. Central to the biochemical A&B BioChemical Method® is that two different types of digestion exist for protein - one for the good protein (pure/high grade protein) that the human body has evolved to handle over the course of millions of years, another for bad proteins (abnormal proteins), which have been consumed in larger quantities only since the invention of home refrigeration. The biochemical A&B BioChemical Method® is the perfect match of food chemistry and body chemistry. It is the result of many years of research, i.e., the "guide" to help people's "old" body chemistry (developed over the course of millions of years) to handle the labyrinth of today's (delicious and seductive) "modern" foods (invented/created after World War II when refrigerators revolutionized the food industry and made "modern" food items possible). People eat everything and anything, also bad proteins, which is, in fact, the cause of many health problems. Yet, the biochemical A&B BioChemical Method® teaches how to eat unhealthy food so that it doesn't harm the BioChemical Machine ... People can happily drink their beer and enjoy every food that is out there. They just learn how to handle the two different types of digestion that exist for protein. And even if they eat chemically "wrong" for a couple of days, who cares? They have from now on to take control over their body. They just go back to the biochemical eating method. Q: You say your approach to eating is not a diet. Why not? A: A diet is usually connected to a plan. It is giving advice (about) what to eat and what not to eat. The biochemical A&B BioChemical Method®, documented in the A&B Method® Charts, does not tell people what to eat. It just shows them what our body chemistry can master and what would create a problem. The decision about what to do/eat is his or hers. Also, there is the "neutral" column that includes the good proteins that can be eaten 24/7. No need for a plan or advice. Nothing "worked" over the past 50 years - ever since diets are supposed to "help." Some gurus vilify dairy products, others meat or bread, beer or sodas. The glycemic-index gurus invented one the funniest things, the rise of the blood-sugar level was now the big root of all evil. If the blood-sugar level wouldn't rise after food intake, we would be talking corpses. Be that as it may, ALL diets are superfluous. They should not exist because they do harm and not good. Ill people need diets for awhile until they are back on track. Anybody else just needs to know the biochemical rules of his or her closest companion, The BioChemical Machine. Q: What in your professional background and your abilities helped you write about such a complex issue? A: My professional training and expertise is the mind and brain chemistry. Being a researcher by heart, it was just natural to take up my studies and to expand from brain chemistry to the entire body chemistry. Since I would never ever "fumble" on other people's cells, I involved renowned experts to make sure that my findings are scientifically sound and will help the people. Q: The Ellenville Hospital has started a pilot study based on your book. How did that come about, and when are the results expected? A: The CEO and President of the Ellenville Hospital, Steven LeConte Kelley witnessed by chance a very serious case of a dying man, who was diabetic (almost in a coma). (He also had) kidney and liver disease and congestive heart failure. This man, my husband, who never listened to me but to his previous MD, once in the hospital had no choice but to eat the food I brought every day to the hospital. The nurses were my "co-conspirators," and my husband recovered ever since. A couple of months later, Mr. Kelley witnessed that his diabetes was almost cured, kidney and liver recovered, etc. The first results should be available in July. Q: How have you and others benefited by using your method? A: At this point, I would like to say that I often regretted having done
this project. I had no idea in what I was getting into. Many distorted my work
in order to sell again their useless diets; powerful opponents tried to stop
my work. But when I got tons of e-mails from real people, who, literally,
thanked me for having done this research, who were pain-free for the first
time in many years, who had energy again, who enjoyed their lives again, I was
often moved to tears. Most of them made me happy. I knew I had done the right
thing to start this crusade, a crusade for the people. Because what would be
the purpose of a researcher if not for making the lives of millions of people
better?

Wow! What a BookI was just beginning to become aware of blood pH and how important it is to be balanced for good health, when my daughter read an article in a magazine on this book. We looked at the way it suggested eating and both said that this made more sense than any diet we have ever heard of (and we have been through our share without success). We followed the guidelines in the magazine (anxiously awaiting for our book to arrive) and were totally amazed at the results. We lost weight effortlessly, never feeling deprived of food. In fact, it is much like the way I ate growing up on a farm in Idaho. The book goes into great detail about the science behind this way of eating, and the more you read the more sense it makes. I haven't felt this good in a long time. I can go up several flights of stairs without huffing and puffing; I feel more rested when I arise early in the morning; the aches in my joints are subsiding -- my whole well being has improved. I don't have enough praise for this book -- it should be a must on every family's reading list!!
